Each Sunday our goal is to share a piece of gold with you. Some small piece of information that helps you to have a better week and achieve a better outcome.
As we all know, the work environment shifted during the pandemic and continues to shift in our post-COVID world. LinkedIn recently posted their 2023 predictions where they shared that they believe the full-time remote work trend is going to retract and the hybrid work environment is going to stay with more specific parameters about coming into an office 2 to 3 days a week. They also pointed out that the trend of employees having lots of choices and the employer fighting to maintain people vs. the employer having options for their team was going to start to shift back.
I believe this is an accurate prediction which will be a major relief for many businesses. However, the lessons learned over the last 2 years are critical if you want to maintain top talent. We may see options for employees slim down, but the data and the facts are simple. Businesses are going to be fighting for talent through 2032. In order to keep top talent, we are going to have to create and maintain a Culture of Want.
- Does your team have a reason to want to work within your business beyond simply having a job?
- Have you created an environment where people want to invest their time, talent, and energy into your business to make it a better place?
- Does your team believe you are helping to serve and improve their families & personal lives?
- When your team speaks of their job, do they do it with pride?
- Simply put, does your team want to work within your organization?
The top talent in the world is always going to have options. We all know the difference talented people can make… one talented person can produce more than two or three… one person can bring energy that helps everyone around them to have a better day… one person can be trusted to get the work done, on time, on point… and the list goes on and on.
By making sure the right people WANT to invest their lives in your organization, the jobs of leaders become much easier and more enjoyable.
While we may see options shift more towards the employer, we should never stop putting the time and energy into a culture that serves and empowers great people.
